Medway receives $1.3 million to power critical facilities during outages

In September, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts awarded $40.3 million in grants to expand energy storage across Massachusetts, helping critical facilities stay powered during outages, supporting training for first responders and municipal officials, and advancing innovative long-duration storage technologies.

The Medway Department of Public Works received $1,319,632 to "help keep critical facilities powered during outages, train first responders and support innovative energy storage projects," according to a press release.

The Department of Energy Resources' Advancing Massachusetts Power Energy Storage Grant Program awarded funding to 36 projects across three areas: Community Resilience, Safety and Education, and Long Duration Energy Storage. The projects include affordable housing developments, schools, community centers, public works facilities, wastewater treatment plants and other critical community infrastructure.
