Goals regularly mentioned in groups pertaining to the Medway Trails include having all Medway residents being reasonably accessible to a public walking trail no matter what area of the town that they live in.  

A great example of a residential area that is not considered to be in the mainstream of the town is Deerfield Pond located in the western part of West Medway off Fisher Street. A compact loop trail around a body of water framed by nature’s beauty, this trail is an unexpected oasis in a sea of single-family homes. The trail is touted as a short five-minute walk, but for those folks who appreciate nature, the trail takes a lot longer to traverse if one is to take in all of its attractions. Swimming is not allowed though fishing is but the pond is NOT a state stocking pond like some other bodies of water in town.  

Scout projects a few years pre-COVID-19 found two bridges being constructed and in 2024, the Medway Trail Club updated the bridges and installed concrete steps for safety purposes.   

Deerfield Pond was selected as a Clean Sweep project site and was also the property of choice for the Club’s Winterfire event in recent years. 

It is requested that visitors abide by the speed limit of 20 mph due to the high pedestrian presence including dog walkers. Bicycle riders are reminded to stay alert as the pond is adjacent to a narrow winding road.  

Access from Fisher Street is the second Deerfield Road entrance from Route 109 and the first entrance from the Holliston side. Parking is in front of the pond at the intersection of Fisher Street and Deerfield Road.
