Driving down Route 109 through Millis in either direction, it is not hard to witness Millis Garden Club members hard at work in one of the seven public gardens or arranging one of 13 planters around town. So, it was no surprise for residents to recently see the Millis DPW coordinating with club members to remove the overgrown shrubs in the garden at the junction of Route 115 and Village Street. 

About the garden

Designed by Garden Club member Kathy Brink, the new garden boasts of the club mascot Oak Leaf Hydrangeas, azaleas, and small leaf rhododendron. Returned to the garden were spring bulbs, mums, lilies, and sedum. Not to be excluded, new iris insisted on moving in along with seedling zinnias, sunflowers, and pumpkins! To invite residents to linger, two birdhouses and a birdbath were added with a bench from which to watch nature at work.

We’ll be happy to see you and will be starting plans for the winter Garden Photography Exhibit for which anyone in the community is welcome to submit their favorite garden/plant photograph.
