This year’s “Winterfire” in Medway will take place on Sun., March 22, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

To promote Medway’s trails, the Medway Trail Club hosts this annual event that appeals to folks of all ages. A nature scavenger hunt, trail walks, cooking s’mores over an open fire, games, and a maple sugaring tapping demonstration comprise just a few of the events available to participate in. Light refreshments will be available and admission is free.

Those who attend will learn about the trails in the town from members of the trail club and Open Space Committee.  View nature from the Viewing Platform, read about the trails, and maybe learn some new facts about the native flora and fauna in the area and a bit of history surrounding the development of open space to walk on.

It has been a cold, icy winter and many people are looking forward to spring but Winterfire is a great bridge between the seasons.

In the meantime, the trails are still open from dawn to dusk and snowshoeing has been a popular, permitted activity this year due to the actual snow fall.

The address for Winterfire is at the Adams Meadow trailhead adjacent to the relatively new All Access Trailhead at 0 (zero) Adams Street, though the parking lot is directly. across from the area between 42-47 Adams Street.  Overflow Parking can be behind the high school as the High School Trail connects to those trails heading North and handicapped parking is available at the All-Access trail.
