On the morning of Jan. 22, Millis Fire Department posted this message on Facebook. 

“Last evening at approximately 1:30am while on routine patrol Officer Sean Nelson found a home under renovation on fire and quickly notified the Fire Department. Initially a working fire was struck, on arrival of Chief Barrett it was cancelled and the fire was extinguished by Millis crews.

“An oversight of the construction crew discarding materials was the cause of the fire. 

“Once again crews were already on a medical call when this came in and A1 transported the medical and Engine 1 responded to the fire. Our dedicated off duty members staffed the remaining apparatus.”
