Medway’s Mahan Circle community room was filled with holiday cheer and music on Dec. 23 as The Reminiscent Music Chorus, the complex’s music group, performed a full program of Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs. 

Friends and family gathered in the audience to sing along to Christmas classics like “Silent Night” and “Frosty the Snowman,” plus a very special rendition of “O Holy Night” by resident George Nye with his granddaughter Ellie, who was visiting on college break. 

The group also performed Hanukkah songs like “Hanukkah Candle Dream” and “Hanukkah, O Hanukkah.” 

The Reminiscent Music Chorus was founded by resident Ruth McIntosh, who directed the production. 

Resident Linda Goldbaum joined the group four years ago when she moved to the complex. She says the group started as a caroling event in the lobby and has since grown into a “really fun sing-along party,” and people often stay after the program to enjoy refreshments and community. 

“As so many people here are not able to get out, it’s wonderful to see them join in when there is a fun event happening. We were so happy to have had such a good turnout. We may not be the best singers, but the love and enjoyment of the music is contagious!”
