6th annual ‘A Novel Occasion’ brings bestselling authors to local book lovers on Jan. 31
Book Lovers are gearing up for a literary celebration as A Novel Occasion returns for its 6th year on Jan. 31, bringing bestselling authors, intimate conversations, and a unique virtual book-lover experience to the community.
Hosted by the Friends of the Millis Public Library, the annual fundraiser has grown into a beloved local tradition, one that invites readers from Millis and beyond to gather online, meet their favorite authors, and support the library in a fun, interactive way.
This year’s lineup features bestselling and award-winning writers across genres, including Bart Baker, Brendan Slocumb, Diane Barnes, Jon Lindstrom, Paula Munier, Samantha Downing, Stephanie Burns, Tiffany L. Warren, and Vanessa Riley.
Attendees choose the book from their first-choice author, then join two small-group roundtable sessions where they can ask questions, talk craft, discuss story inspirations, and connect directly with the authors. “It feels like being invited to the table with writers you normally only see on book jackets,” said Sandra Elaine Scott, President of the Friends of the Millis Public Library. “It brings joy, connection, and community—all while supporting the mission of our library.”
The 2026 event will once again be held live on Zoom from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering a rare opportunity to enjoy an international author event without leaving home.
Tickets are available now. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Millis Public Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting programming, community outreach, and library enhancement projects. To learn more, visit anoveloccasion.com.
