On the afternoon of Dec. 18, a serious motor vehicle crash caused injuries, damage, and hours of traffic delays. 

In a social media post, the Millis Fire Department said, “At 1:30pm this afternoon [Dec. 18], Millais Fire and Police responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 109 and Village Street. On arrival of Fire Chief Richard Barrett, it was reported to be a fully loaded cement truck versus car with the cement truck on its side. 

“Millis Fire was already on a medical [call] when this call came in, staffing of the second ambulance treated these patients. Chief Barrett requested an ambulance and Engine from Medfield and an Engine from Norfolk to the scene. Medfield C1 and an Engine from Sherborn secured the landing zone.

“The removal of the cement truck required a very skilled team from Ted’s Towing who were able to upright the truck and prepare it for removal. 

“Millis Fire crews were on scene for over six hours, and during that time there were an additional three medicals handled by our recall staff, Sherborn Engine and Medway Ambulance,” concluded the MFD post. 

In a separate post, the Millis Police Department said, “The driver of the passenger car was a 68-year-old male. He was transported by Boston MedFlight to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the cement truck was a 53-year-old male who sustained no injuries. The crash is currently under investigation by the Millis Police Department.”
