S&P Global Ratings Affirms Top-Tier ‘AAA’ Bond Rating to Medway

On Sept. 4, the Town of Medway sold $5,190,000 General Obligation Bonds for various capital projects. S&P Global Ratings re-affirmed the Town’s ‘AAA’ bond rating based on the following factors:

• The Town’s robust economy

• Strong financial performance and healthy reserves

• Proactive management team

•Forward-looking financial practices and policies

•Solid revenue and expenditure performance

The ‘AAA’ designation is the highest issuer credit rating assigned by S&P Global, signifying an extremely strong capacity to meet financial obligations.

Proceeds from the 2025 bond issuance will go toward various capital projects, including improvements to Hanlon track & field and the Medway High School culvert. A top-tier credit rating allows the Town to sell its bonds at a preferable rate, which reduces interest expense and preserves taxpayer dollars. We are most appreciative of S&P’s support and recognition of our community’s fiscal management successes, and we thank our Select Board, our School Committee, and our Finance Committee for their leadership efforts and financial stewardship here in Medway.
