On Sept. 16 at approximately 8:10 p.m., the Millis Public Safety Dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting heavy smoke in the area of McDonalds, according to a social media post by @MillisFireDepartment. 

“A full recall was struck and on arrival of Millis Police it was reported to be a commercial building fire on Ross Ave. On arrival of  Chief Barrett a working fire was struck. Group A in Engine 1 made a quick attack on the fire that started on the exterior and extended in the structure knocking the fire down. Off duty members and our mutual aid partners checked for extension and ventilated the structure.”

The post said “one firefighter was transported with minor injuries by Bellingham Fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Millis Fire & Police departments as well as the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s office.”

In the post, Millis Fire thanked the departments from Norfolk, Medway, Medfield, and Sherborn for mutual aid.
