Is there a short trail with great scenery that I can show out of town or even in town visitors to Medway? The answer is - a resounding “Yes!.” And what if I told you that there is a short but scenic trail that was constructed by the son of a beloved late Boy Scout leader that overlooks the Charles River and is equipped with several backless benches and two picnic tables?  

Welcome to the Ohnemus Trail which leads to spectacular views of the Charles River and is particularly scenic during the autumn. Dedicated to the memory of Kurt Ohnemus, his son constructed the trail as part of an Eagle Scout project. 

Initially, there was no dedicated parking area but in 2025, that no longer is true for there is lined parking for three cars there, which is sandwiched between a private residence at 311 Village and Medway’s police station at 315 Village Street.  

One of the picnic benches is at the beginning of the trail, but the better view Is from the picnic bench adjacent to the river. Look for the blue Open Space sign to the left of the Police Station and drive to one of the lined paved spaces to park. It is a great place for a picnic with views so bring your camera too.
