Medway Public Schools Superintendent Armand Pires and Medway Middle School Principal Amanda Luizzi are pleased to share that the Medway Middle School Department of Performing Arts hosted a successful production of “Frozen Jr.” at the Medway High School auditorium.

The Medway Middle School Performing Arts Department performed for a sold-out crowd on Friday night, April 5, and to nearly full houses in two shows on Saturday, April 6.

The play is a stage adaptation of the Disney movie musical, “Frozen.”

Art teacher Marc Davidson led set design of Frozen Jr.’s wintery scenes, and eighth-grade English language arts teacher Doug Herbst served as stage manager and head of stage crew. Lauren Coyne, owner of Kinetic Synergy Dance Company in Norwell, choreographed musical numbers.

“There were a few young audience members in attendance dressed as their favorite characters, and it was magical watching so many young faces sparkle when it began to snow over the audience,” said Theater Director Nori von Jena, who teaches chorus and theater at Medway Middle School. “These students are not only so talented, they are kind and hard-working. It has been a blast taking the magic they exude and bringing it to the stage.”

Camden Roy, a sixth-grader who played “Young Elsa,” said, “I enjoyed meeting many new people and working together to create an amazing play.”

Lexie Mahan, an eighth-grader in stage crew added, “My favorite part of working on ‘Frozen Jr.’ was meeting and hanging out with new people who support you and cheer for you no matter what.”

“We are so proud of our talented performers at Medway Middle School in their dedication to putting on an incredible show,” said Supt. Pires. “They deserved their standing ovations for a job well done!”
