Millis senior project sparked Millis History Day

Ferrantino tour highlighted
20 historical sites

MILLIS - Shea Ferrantino’s senior project was inspired by his love of history, community pride, and a conversation he had with Millis High School social studies teacher Brian Kraby.
The project goal was to replace some of the historical signs in town, so he organized a “Millis History Day” trolley tour to raise money to fund the project. He ran four tours on May 6; 85 people attended and he raised $1,100 toward his goal of $5,000.
“My initial idea for the project came from Mr. Kraby and I used inspiration from events like Medfield History Day to create my own,” said Ferrantino. “Hopefully, the project will continue on as not all the history was told in the short tour; hopefully it can become an annual event.”
Ferrantino researched each site on the one-hour tour and created a pamphlet with a short description of each stop. “I chose a couple of locations and did research on those locations myself, however, the majority of the information came from the bicentennial of the town,” he said. His mentor, Mr. Kraby, narrated the tours.
Ferrantino continues to fundraise so he can complete the project. To donate, contact him at [email protected], Venmo sheaferrantino, or mail a check to 2 Gerald Ave in Millis.
Ferrantino said the project would not have been possible without his sponsors which include Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, Millis Lions, Ambassador LLC, VistaPrint, CMG Home Loans, Northeast Signature Properties, and PCA Landscaping.
