Calling All Millis Gardeners! Sept. meeting of Millis Garden Club could determine its future

The Millis Garden Club will be holding a very important strategy meeting on Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.in the Millis Public Library’s Roche Bros. Room. This meeting is open to all past and present members and to anyone in the community who enjoys the work of the club around the town.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the future of the club. Due to several factors, including natural attrition, the health and age of many members, and the effect of the pandemic, the club is finding it difficult to maintain its presence in the town.

Areas we maintain include the “Welcome to Millis” garden on Rte. 109, the garden at the fork of Village St. and Rtw.115; and seasonal flower containers at the library, the Veterans Memorial Building, Exchange Street, and the Millis Fire Station. We also have offered annual scholarships to Millis seniors who are planning to study areas pertaining to plant science, the environment, or related fields.

You do not need to have a “green thumb” to participate, only a willingness to help carry on the work of the Garden Club. We hope to see you there!

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like information about the club, please contact Co-treasurer Heidi Dostoomian at [email protected].
